The Italian American Association of Monmouth County has awarded five scholarships to senior high school students of Italian descent in Monmouth County. Each scholarship is valued at $500, according to a press release.
One scholarship that is awarded is the IAA Frank Muzzicato Memorial Scholarship, which was established through the organization by Muzzicato’s wife, Donna, in his memory. Frank Muzzicato was an IAA member, according to the press release.
This year’s scholarship recipients were Amanda Martin, Taylor Adams, Andrew Monteperto, Giancarlo Anzelone and Jordan Cerio.
Students who apply for a scholarship must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0; two recommendation letters; and list the community service they have completed. Each student is also asked to submit an essay for an assigned topic.
Scholarship applications are sent to the guidance department in each high school in Monmouth County, public and private. Applications may also be obtained at www.iaaofmc.com. A new application is posted in January and the deadline to submit an application is April 30.
