New York native Candice Guardino, whose family members live in Holmdel, Colts Neck, Wood-Ridge and New Milford, will bring her one-woman show “Italian Bred” to the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park on July 30.
“Italian Bred” is based on true life events and told through the eyes of a little girl growing up Italian on Staten Island, N.Y., according to a press release.
Guradino slips in and out of multiple family characters while sharing the stage with virtual cameos of Emmy winner Leslie Jordan from “Will and Grace,” Mario Cantone from “Sex and the City,” Steve Schirripa from “The Sopranos” and Vic DiBitetto from “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.”
Guardino will visit New Jersey this summer after successful shows in New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago.
Guardino was born in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, N.Y., raised on Staten Island and now divides her time between Los Angeles and New York City.
She made a name for herself on the New York theater scene with her one-woman show “S.O.S.” which ran at Stage 72 and the Laurie Beechman Theatre, according to the press release.
Guardino has written sitcoms, stage plays, screenplays and shorts. She has studied with UCB, Second City and the Peoples Improv Theater. She holds a degree in theater.
