Scholar Athlete Artists receive May honors

NORTH BRUNSWICK – Township officials recognized the accomplishments and talents of two young students by presenting them with the North Brunswick Scholar Athlete Artist award.

Brianna Ketrow, a fifth grade honor roll student at Judd Elementary School, was the first to receive her proclamation during the May 1 council meeting.

Brianna has volunteered with the North Brunswick Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services by escorting the Easter Bunny during the Easter Egg Hunt, handing out American flags during the Memorial Day ceremony, signing in registrants for the Memorial Day 5K and judging houses in the Halloween decorating contest.

She also volunteers with the Salvation Army, serving Thanksgiving meals, and collected toys for Operation Christmas Child.

She takes swim lessons in North Brunswick and also plays ice hockey.

Patrick Keefe was also recognized as a Scholar Athlete Artist for May.

As an eighth grade high honor roll student at Linwood Middle School, he is a member of the Junior National Honor Society.

He is a peer tutor at Linwood, and serves as a sixth grade homeroom mentor. He attended the Municipal Alliance Leadership Conference this year.

Patrick has played recreation basketball since kindergarten, recreation soccer since age 4 and lacrosse. He is currently the captain of Linwood’s lacrosse and soccer teams. He volunteers with the Buddy Ball programs for soccer and basketball.

He has played the drums since fourth grade and is part of the Linwood band and wind ensemble.

Patrick also volunteers with the Central Jersey Spinal Cord Association, the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Peace Church and Purple for Pappas.
