Edison Township will host a National Night Out event at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 outside the Edison Municipal Complex and at the Papaianni Park softball field, both on Municipal Boulevard off of Route 27.
Edison’s annual ‘Night Out’ program will feature an outdoor family movie, exhibits and demonstrations by the Police and Fire Departments; entertainment and information booths sponsored by the Recreation and Health Departments, the town’s Clean Communities Program, various civic groups and local businesses.
For youngsters, “McGruff the Crime Dog” and “Paw Patrol” characters will make guest appearances and there will be a mobile video game trailer. Courtesy of the Police Department, there will be free hot dogs, sandwiches, soda, Italian ices and bottled water.
At 8:30 p.m., the 2016 animated musical-comedy “Sing” will be aired on a large outdoor screen at the Papaianni Park softball field. Families are encouraged to bring blankets or low-back lawn chairs to watch the film.
Business sponsors for Edison’s National Night Out include Applebees, Cypress Brewing, The Pines Manor and Target, along with Featured Catering, the on-site caterer at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Hall in Raritan Center.
