MARLBORO – For the fifth consecutive year, an accounting firm has found no issues with Marlboro’s operation.
Wiss and Company released its independent audit report on June 28 for the year ending Dec. 31, 2016. For the fifth consecutive year, the auditors reported that there were no findings or recommendations, according to a press release from the township.
Each year, Marlboro is subject to an independent audit of its financial statements. The primary purpose of the audit is to report on the condition of the financial information compiled by the Finance Department and to reflect upon the integrity of the procedures and controls implemented by the township, according to the press release.
The auditors scrutinized Marlboro’s financial statements and processes and found no issues or concerns, according to the press release.
“This accomplishment is certainly an endorsement of the work of our Finance Department and I commend these employees for their hard work,” Mayor Jon Hornik said.
“At the same time, it serves as testimony to an organization-wide effort to adhere to the procedures and guidelines established in both state statute and township policy concerning purchasing and the safeguarding of township assets.
“This could not be done without the assistance of the township employees, department heads and supervisors, when one considers the increased demands placed upon municipal employees and today’s more stringent auditing standards,” Hornik said.
“I especially want to thank Township Council President Jeff Cantor, Council Vice President Randi Marder, Councilwoman Carol Mazzola, Councilman Scott Metzger and Councilman Michael Scalea for their support and dedication as we work together throughout the year to maintain Marlboro’s financial and managerial high standards,” he said.
