WOODBRIDGE — Funds from the eighth annual “Bowl for Hunger” will be distributed evenly among 32 food banks in Middlesex County.
This year’s “Bowl for Hunger” on July 27 at Majestic Lanes of Hopelawn raised approximately $31,000, with additional pledges to come.
Assemblyman Craig J. Coughlin (D-Middlesex) in partnership with the Middlesex Water Company, Raritan Bay Medical Center Foundation and Woodbridge Metro Chamber of Commerce hold the “Bowl for Hunger” event.
Since the event’s inception in 2010, more than $155,000 has been raised to feed the hungry. The 32 food banks are located in Carteret, Perth Amboy, Sayreville, South Amboy and Woodbridge.
This year’s event once again featured a double session, 5:30-7:30 p.m. and 8-10 p.m., where approximately 550 bowlers took part on 80 bowling lanes.

In total, 74 corporate, community and individual sponsors donated at least $100 to support the cause.
