Applications are being accepted for the Fall 2017 South Brunswick Citizen Police Academy.
The academy will give community members a behind-the-scenes look at policing. A dozen officers and detectives will share their perspective and insights into the daily workings of the police department.
The academy will offer training on a range of law enforcement topics including motor vehicle laws, criminal law and use of force. In addition, citizens will learn about crime scene processing, defensive tactic and internal affairs.
The academy will culminate with a day of practical exercises where students will handle simulated motor vehicle stops, disputes and other realistic scenarios.
The academy will begin on Sept. 12 and continue from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays for 11 weeks. Graduation is set for Nov. 28.
