Did You Know?

If you are a The Big Bang Theory fan, like most of us, you will not want to miss CBS’ new comedy series Young Sheldon, premiering Monday, Sept. 25, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT. The series stars Iain Armitage as Sheldon Cooper, a 9-year old genius living with his family in East Texas and going to high school. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn’t always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naïve Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. Sheldon’s mother, Mary, fiercely protects and nurtures her son in a town where he just doesn’t fit in. Sheldon’s older brother, Georgie, does the best he can in high school, but it’s tough to be cool when you’re in the same classes with your odd 9-year-old brother. Sheldon’s twin sister, Missy, sometimes resents all the attention Sheldon gets, but also remains the one person who can reliably tell Sheldon the truth. For 10 years on “The Big Bang Theory,” audiences have come to know the iconic, eccentric and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. This single-camera, half-hour comedy gives us the chance to meet him in childhood, as he embarks on his innocent, awkward and hopeful journey toward the man he will become. The series also stars Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan and Raegan Revord.

ABC’s Dancing with the Stars returns on Monday, Sept. 18, from 8 to 10 p.m. ET/PT. Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews are back to guide us through this milestone 25th installment, along with your favorite judges. With an all-new cast of celebrities ready to take on the competition and hit the ballroom floor, it will be another season full of surprises and unforgettable dances. Of course, it’s still all about the fans who ultimately help determine which teams make the cut each week with their votes during the biggest dance party on the planet!

National Geographic Channel will go inside ISIS with its two-night miniseries The State, airing on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 18 and 19, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The State is a powerful new four-part drama from BAFTA- and Golden Globe-winning writer/director Peter Kosminsky. A compelling and timely fictional story based on extensive research and firsthand accounts, the series follows four British men and women who leave their lives behind to join ISIS in Raqqah, Syria. Kosminsky takes a bold, unflinching approach to telling the dramatic, fact-based stories of young ISIS recruits and offers an authentic and nuanced look inside one of the most serious global threats we face today. Sam Otto, who plays Jalal, is following in his older brother’s footsteps in deciding to travel to Syria and fight for ISIS and has persuaded Ryan McKen, who plays his best friend, Ziyaad, to accompany him.
