FREEHOLD – The Freehold Borough Human Relations Committee will host its fifth annual Senior Appreciation Day from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 17 in the Monmouth County Hall of Records parking lot, Main Street.
The rain date for Senior Appreciation Day is Sept. 24. Residents of all towns and all ages are welcome to attend the event, according to a press release.
The Freehold Kruisers will join the festivities with a classic car contest offering trophies to five “Best in Show” vehicles.
During Senior Appreciation Day, the Freehold Kruisers will be collecting donations for Dr. Jeff’s Rocky Mountain veterinary clinic (Planned Pethood Plus) and hosting a children’s poster contest to promote the clinic and its services.
The event will feature antique appraisals, a raffle for a homemade quilt, an old fashioned ice cream truck, food, beverages and information/vendors including the Monmouth County Historical Association, Monmouth County Aging and Disability Resource, Casa Freehold, the Freehold Borough Police Department and more.
Entertainment will be provided by DJ Tommy Lynch of 94.3 The Point, Zumba with Norma, Actors Dance Studio, chair yoga with Dawn, saxophonist David Winograd, Freehold Idol winner Barney Gagliardo and Emma Lynne DeRoss of Freehold Borough.
“Senior Appreciation Day is an event committed to acknowledging senior residents for their contribution to our community,” said Gianna Dell’Omo, vice chair of the Freehold Borough Human Relations Committee.
“We invite all to join us in bridging the generation gap on Sept. 17 to celebrate with classic cars, music, dance, food, vintage candy, vendors, antique appraisals and community service providers, and to share in festivities for the whole family to enjoy.
“The Human Relations Committee would like to give a special thanks to the Freehold Kruisers, DJ Tommy Lynch, our entertainers and business participants for helping to make it a memorable day.
“And a big thank you to Federici’s, the Court Jester, Sweet Lew’s, the Metropolitan Cafe, Jersey Freeze, Circle 9 Diner, the American Hotel, Jemm Optical and the Hungry Puppy for their contributions to the grand prize giveaway,” Dell’Omo said.
