Nona B. Haldane, 93, passed away 12 September, 2017 in the home of her daughter and in the company of her family.
She was born 22 June 1924 in New York, NY, daughter of Russell F. and Edythe (Erikkson) Bird. She grew up in New York City and Bay Head, NJ. In 1944 she married William Richard Haldane. They were married 68 years. He died in 2012.
In recent years Nona lived in Princeton and Toms River, NJ. In Princeton she was a real estate broker and an assistant in a brokerage house. In Toms River she worked at Merrill Lynch.
Nona was an avid reader and loved to travel. Aside from the many states she lived in or visited with her family, she toured England, France, Estonia, Russia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Egypt.
She loved animals and supported rescue efforts. Her dogs and cats were from rescue shelters; she encouraged others to follow her lead.
Nona is survived by her four children: Suzanne Haldane and her husband, Tom Hyman, of Peterborough, NH; William Richard Haldane, Jr. and wife, Winnie (Yuan), of Toms River; Cynthia Haldane of Trenton; Scott Haldane of Charlestown, MA; and grandsons Ian Hyman and Christopher Haldane.
