Millstone prepares for 2017 edition of Color-A-Thon

MILLSTONE – Community members are invited to participate in the third annual Color-A-Thon race that will raise funds for the Millstone Township K-8 School District.

The event will take place at the Millstone Township Middle School, 5 Dawson Court, at 10 a.m. Oct. 7. The entrance fee is $30.

Students who do not attend a school in Millstone Township and members of the community may register online at http://shop.schoolathon.org/EventIndex.asp?EID=186831 (group ID: 120627) or at the event on the day of the race.

Millstone students will receive a pledge packet and have the opportunity to earn free prizes they can use during the event.

The Color-A-Thon is presented by the Millstone Township Primary and Elementary School PTO and the Millstone Township Middle School PTSA, which operate independently from the school district.

Christina Baldino, Kristin Schloss, Juli Hilbert and Natalie Biello serve as the co-chairs of the event. Baldino said all of the proceeds will go directly to district students.

Participants in the Color-A-Thon will race along a course that has been designed by middle school Athletic Director Joseph Muni. Each participant may walk, run or jog at his or her own pace, according to Baldino. During the race, the participants will be sprayed with a powdered color dye.

Following the race, a party will be held for the participants, featuring music and a disc jockey. The DJ, according to Baldino, will be David “DP” Paul, who is a member of the Harlem Wizards basketball team.

“The Color-A-Thon is one of our biggest events for Millstone,” Baldino said. “It is a unique event, too. All of our (school district) administrators are out there. There is a nice layer of excitement and it is a family event. You really can do it with everyone.”

Sponsors of the event are Cobra Power Systems, Millstone Township; Knob Hill Golf Club, Manalapan; Sportika Sports, Manalapan; and N.J. Spine and Wellness Center Sport Medicine, Freehold Township. Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor may contact Biello at [email protected]
