METUCHEN — A newcomer has filled Councilman Jay Muldoon’s seat after he resigned in August to serve as interim Borough Administrator.
On Sept. 11, the Metuchen Democratic Committee selected Todd Pagel to fill Muldoon’s seat.
Pagel was sworn in at a council meeting on Sept. 18.
“Todd is someone who served the borough well with the Shade Tree Commission as well as the Office of Emergency Management,” Mayor Peter Cammarano said. “Todd is somebody who is a real asset to the town as whole.”
Pagel, who has lived in Metuchen since 2009, resides on Midland Avenue with his wife Nora and two young children.
He is a Petty Officer in the United States Coast Guard Reserve and a middle school social studies teacher in the Edison Public School District.
In the borough, Pagel serves as chairman of the Metuchen Shade Tree Commission and he is a member of the Metuchen Emergency Management Commission.
Pagel is expected to run for Metuchen Borough Council with Councilman Reed Leibfried on November 7.
“Todd exemplifies the soul and character of Metuchen through his tireless work for our community,” Leibfried said. “I am very excited that he has joined our team.”
