Nancy Elliot Stewart, 87, of Pennington passed away on Wednesday, September 27th at Compassionate Care Hospice, Hamilton, of cancer. Born and raised in Andover, MA, she had resided in Pennington since 1975. She graduated from Abbot Academy, Andover, MA now a part of Phillips Academy, Andover, MA. She attended Simmons College, The Boston Museum School majoring in Silversmithing. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Trenton State College in 1981 with an Art Education Degree. She was a self-employed silversmith specializing in gold and silver jewelry before receiving her teaching degree where she was employed at Bear Tavern School as an Instructional Aide. She was active in her church as an Elder at the Pennington Presbyterian Church where she worked the Retired Men’s Luncheon and helped with Home Front Dinners. Nancy liked to swim, sew, draw, read, cook and travel.
Daughter of the late Gordon B. and Grace Cadman Elliot, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Thomas R. Stewart and her sister, Mary Elliot Brown. She is survived by her brother, Gordon B. Elliot Jr. (Linette) of West Newton, MA, her children, Thomas Stewart (Sally) of Greenville, SC, Amy Stewart Wilmarth (Rick) of Oak Ridge, NJ, Alexander Stewart (Mahine) of Oslo, Norway, and Louisa Stewart (Terrance Dennis) of Sergeantsville, NJ, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday September 30th 2:00 p.m. at the Pennington Presbyterian Church, 13 S. Main St., Pennington, with the Rev. Nancy Mikoski pastor officiating. The internment will be private at a later date at Harbourton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2600 Us Highway One, N.
