It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Emmett Wilson, Jr.
Dr. Wilson was born in Seminole, Oklahoma in 1931. He held a PhD from Harvard in psychiatry.
Early in his career ran a private psychiatric practice in New York City. He later worked out of his Princeton home specializing in adolescent psychoanalysis.
Dr. Wilson was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Margaret Dauler Wilson, an American philosopher and a professor of philosophy at Princeton University.
Dr. Wilson was an avid photographer and collector of photographs, a classical music enthusiast, a pianist, and fluent in multiple languages.
Without question Dr. Wilson’s passion was in dog rescue. He founded Small Dog Rescue of Princeton in 1998. Small Dog Rescue is one of the largest no-kill shelter/sanctuary for dogs in New Jersey.
Over the last 20 years, Dr. Wilson rescued over 4,000 dogs from every situation – abusive homes, death row and just nice people desperate to place a dog they could no longer keep. Thousands of dogs found a new, loving and permanent home through adoptions by SDR. The unadoptable dogs lived their life at the farm – loved and respected for their strong personalities by Doc, rescue staff and volunteers.
To honor Dr. Wilson’s memory and rescue mission – please contribute to Rawhide Rescue in his name. They can be reached at www.rawhiderescue.org
