Vandals target vending machine

MANALAPAN – Police are asking anyone who has information about a recent incident of vandalism to reach out and share that information with the Manalapan Police Department.

On Sept. 26 at 8:45 p.m., Patrolman Jason Vigneault responded to the Manalapan Recreation Center, Route 522, to follow up on a report of vandalism.

Police said employees of the Manalapan Recreation Department reported that sometime between 6-8 p.m., an unknown individual attempted to gain entry to a vending machine that has been placed between the recreation center’s tennis courts and basketball courts.

Police said it did not appear that any money or items had been removed from the machine. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 732-446-4300.

In other incidents reported by police:

• On Sept. 27 at 5:12 p.m., a 39-year-old resident of Little Egg Harbor reported to police that while at the Englishtown Auction Sales, Sobechko Road, that day, an unknown individual stole the victim’s cellular phone. The phone was valued at approximately $950.

• On Sept. 26 at 11:12 a.m., loss prevention employees at Wegmans, Route 9, reported that at 11:06 p.m. Sept. 21, a suspect described only as a black female used a counterfeit $100 bill as payment for a purchase. The incident is pending investigation.
