A 62-year-old Princeton woman was killed when she was struck by a cement truck as she was crossing Washington Road at its intersection with Nassau Street late Tuesday afternoon, according to the Princeton Police Department.
Leslie Goodrich Rubin, 62, who lived on Nassau Street in Princeton, was struck by the cement truck at 4:47 p.m. as the truck, which was traveling west on Nassau Street, was making a left turn onto Washington Road, police said.
Rubin was walking in the crosswalk when the accident occurred. She died at the scene, police said.
The truck driver, 60-year-old Ralph Allen of Tabernacle, was not injured.
Tuesday also marked national “Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day,” which is held every year on Oct. 10. The program encourages drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists to be extra cautious so there will not be a fatality on that day.
Meanwhile, the cause of the accident remains under investigation. The Princeton Police Department is asking that anyone who witnessed the accident to call Traffic Safety Bureau supervisor Sgt. Thomas Murray at 609-921-2100, ext. 1879.
