Reader: Liu is the choice for North Brunswick’s future

On Nov. 7, North Brunswick residents will have the opportunity to vote for three members of the Board of Education out of a slate of four candidates.

I will be casting my vote for Howard Liu. Howard is a North Brunswick Township High School (NBTHS) graduate, Class of 2009. He has a personal perspective what it is like to go through our school system within the past decade. He knows what is needed. Howard is a first generation American and serves our country as a civilian program analyst for the Department of Defense (DoD). He knows what it takes to create a budget through his experience with the DoD. I have known “HL,” as his friends call him, for over a decade and remember his passion and energy from class back in NBTHS.

As a lifelong resident of North Brunswick and descendant of two generations of North Brunswick business owners, I would like to continue what my grandfather was afforded the opportunity to do when he moved to North Brunswick. With skyrocketing property taxes, it is increasingly difficult specifically to our age/group and in general for older generations to move forward in this state. New Jersey is ranked in the top five for housing costs for millennials. If the education we are now offering to current and future generations of North Brunswick students is that beneficial to their future, then why are millennials having to leave?

When you vote on Nov. 7, vote Howard Liu. We need new, fresh dynamic leadership on the Board of Education.
