Anthony L. Prestifilippo died peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at his home in Kendall Park surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old.
Anthony was born in Jersey City, grew up in Jersey City and has lived in Kendall Park for over 50 years. He was a communicant of Saint Mary of Mount Virgin RC Church, New Brunswick. Anthony was a Shop Steward at McLean Truck- ing, South Plainfield and retired as a Teamster Fund Manager after 36 years with Local #701, South Brunswick. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Tony lived honorably and always put the needs of others before his own. His work ethic, honesty and loyalty defined him as a person and led others to know they could always depend on him for anything. He enjoyed the simple things in life like grilling outdoors, rooting for the New York Rangers and going to the racetrack. He did all these things and more with his beloved wife, Anne, always by his side. A great day for Tony was spent telling stories and sharing laughter in the backyard with his wife, children and grandchildren. There were many of these days and they will be treasured by his family forever. Tony will be remembered eternally for his selfless nature, constant humor and loving heart.
He is predeceased by his wife Anne R. (Fischetti) Prestifilippo on October 3, 2017; his parents — Giovanni and Concetta Prestifilippo. Surviving are his brother — Charles Prestifilippo; his five children — John Prestifilippo of Kingwood, TX., Carolyn Clark of Kendall Park, Maria Dowgin of Monmouth Junction, Joe Prestifilippo of Scottsdale, AZ., Carla Kenny of North Brunswick; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 9:45 AM Thurs- day, October 26, 2017 from Selover Funeral Home. A 10:30 AM Mass will be offered at St. Mary of Mount Virgin RC Church in New Brunswick. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
