Howell coin toss will support hurricane relief efforts

Howell Emergency Services Helps America (HESHA), which was created in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, will hold a fundraiser to assist people whose lives have been impacted by recent hurricanes in Florida, Texas and Puerto Rico.

HESHA is comprised of volunteers from the Squankum Fire Company, the Adelphia Fire Company, the Southard Fire Department, the Ramtown Fire Company and the Freewood Acres Fire Company, according to a press release.

Volunteers from HESHA have joined with USA Hometown Heroes to raise funds for hurricane relief efforts. On Veterans Day weekend, a town-wide coin toss will take place in Howell. Volunteers will be at intersections and at major storefronts collecting funds on Nov. 11-12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

USA Hometown Heroes is a registered 501(c)(3) charity that was founded in 2008. Its mission is to help families and individuals during times of crisis. In the aftermath of superstorm Sandy, Hometown Heroes was able to help more than 10,000 people in more than 2,500 families through its Restore the Shore campaign, according to the press release.

Volunteers are being sought to help with the effort on Nov. 11-12 in Howell so that additional locations may be staffed. For more information, call Hal Ornstein at 732-685-3600.
