The YMCA of Western Monmouth County honored volunteer Jared Katz at the 17th annual New Jersey YMCA State Alliance Celebration on Oct. 19 at Forsgate Country Club, Monroe Township.
The alliance celebration recognizes volunteers for their service and commitment to the community by making significant volunteering contributions to programs and people at their local YMCA, according to a press release from the YMCA.
Nearly 600,000 people volunteer at the Y each year and give back through activities such as mentoring teens, coaching youth sports, serving on boards and spearheading fundraising drives, according to the press release.
These opportunities also help volunteers enhance their personal well-being and develop meaningful relationships, all while making an impact in communities they care about, according to YMCA administrators.
“Without volunteers, the Y would not be the same; they are the heart and soul of our organization and without their hard work, dedication and selflessness we could not do the work we do every day to help kids, families and communities thrive,” said Cynthia Joy, president and CEO of the YMCA of Western Monmouth County, Freehold Township.
