SOUTH RIVER A potential threat made against South River High School was found to be not credible, according to police.
During the evening of Nov. 21, the South River Police Department received reports of rumors circulating on social media referencing threats made to the school, according to a prepared statement from the South River Police Department.
The Police Department’s Detective Bureau initiated an investigation which concluded at approximately 10:30 p.m., according to police. As part of the investigation and as a precautionary measure, police, along with K9 units, conducted a comprehensive sweep of the building. No suspicious items were found and the threats were found to not be credible, according to police.
“Once informed of this message, the police responded immediately with a thorough investigation and found ‘no credible threat.’ A communication to this end was sent from the police department to our community, and to our district parents from our schools. These events took place several hours after the closing of school, and no students or staff were present,” Superintendent of Schools Sylvia Zircher said.
