MILLSTONE – An ordinance that establishes the salary ranges for Millstone Township’s employees and elected officials for 2018 has been adopted by the Township Committee.
Committee members took the action on Dec. 20.
According to the ordinance, the mayor, who is an equal member of the Township Committee, and the other four committee members do not receive a minimum salary. The mayor may receive a maximum annual salary of $7,321 and a committee member may receive a maximum annual salary of $7,112. Both of these salaries were authorized for 2018 by the resolution.
Each year during the reorganization meeting in January, the members of the committee elect one of the five members of the governing body to serve as mayor for the year.
All other municipal positions that do not receive an hourly minimum and maximum salary will receive a minimum salary of $1,000, according to the ordinance. Positions with an hourly salary all receive a minimum salary of $7.25 per hour if a minimum salary is established.
The maximum salaries of the non-hourly positions with a $1,000 minimum salary, according to the ordinance, are $93,000 for the municipal clerk/assessment clerk; $83,000 for the building inspector; $75,000 for the certified municipal finance officer; $70,000 for the tax assessor; $66,000 for the court administrator; $65,000 each for the tax collector/search officer and the land use administrator;
Also, $50,000 for the treasurer; $46,000 for the open space/farmland secretary; $45,000 each for the township administrator and the recreation coordinator; $41,000 for the construction secretary; $36,000 each for the deputy township clerk and the electrical inspector; $31,000 for the plumbing inspector; and $30,000 each for the code enforcement officer and the public works crew chief.
The tax assessor clerk/inspector and municipal court judge may each receive a maximum salary of $25,000; the recycling coordinator may receive a maximum salary of $20,000; the code enforcement/recycling assistant may receive a maximum salary of $16,000; the purchasing agent, construction code official and zoning officer may each receive a maximum salary of $15,000; the web/programming event generator (PEG)/newsletter and summer recreation director may each receive a maximum salary of $10,000;
And, the health benefits coordinator and animal control coordinator may each receive a maximum salary of $7,000; the technical support may receive a maximum salary of $6,000; the fire protection inspector may receive a maximum salary of $5,000; the clean communities coordinator, building sub-code official, plumbing sub-code official, fire protection sub-code official and electrical sub-code official may each receive a maximum salary of $4,000; the vital statistics registrar may receive a maximum salary of $3,000; and the deputy vital statistics registrar and recycling assistant may each receive a maximum salary of $2,000, according to the ordinance.
The authorized salaries for non-hourly positions, according to the resolution, are $91,646 for the municipal clerk/assessment clerk; $80,764 for the building inspector; $73,059 for the certified municipal finance officer; $66,712 for the tax assessor; $65,819 for the court administrator; $63,453 for the tax collector/search officer;
And, $58,494 for the land use administrator; $49,454 for the treasurer; $45,945 for the open space/farmland secretary; $44,922 for the recreation coordinator; $43,128 for the township administrator; $39,616 for the first construction secretary; $34,786 for the deputy township clerk; $32,059 for the electrical inspector; $29,990 for the plumbing inspector;
Also, $26,530 each for the code enforcement officer and public works coordinator; $25,540 for the second construction secretary; $23,769 for the tax assessor clerk/inspector; $20,200 for the municipal court judge; $15,918 for the recycling coordinator; $14,359 for the code enforcement assistant; $13,202 for the construction code official; $10,612 for the zoning officer;
And, $9,468 for the web/PEG/newsletter; $8,218 for the purchasing agent; $8,000 for the summer recreation director; $6,027 for the health benefits coordinator; $5,802 for the technical support; $5,464 for the animal control coordinator; $3,939 for the fire inspection official;
Also, $3,855 each for the building sub-code official, plumbing sub-code official, fire protection sub-code official and a temporary inspector; $3,242 for the clean communities coordinator; $2,736 for the vital statistics registrar; $1,595 for the recycling assistant; and $1,081 for the deputy vital statistics registrar.
