Rumson-Fair Haven
The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School girls’ basketball team improved to 7-1 on the season when it knocked off Holmdel High School, 68-47, on Jan. 9 in Rumson.
Senior Tori Hyduke connected on a double-double effort for the Bulldogs, scoring a game-high 32 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
Senior Christina Antonakakis led Holmdel with 12 points, while freshman Ryann Taylor followed up with 11 points.
The Bulldogs looked to continue their winning ways when traveled to West Long Branch for a matchup against Shore Regional High School on Jan. 12.
The Hornets, who were 6-3 following the setback to Rumson-Fair Haven, will make their way to West Long Branch to play Shore Regional on Jan. 18 at 5:15 p.m. Holmdel hosted Shore Regional in its season opener on Dec. 15, scoring a 55-35 victory.
Red Bank Catholic
The Red Bank Catholic (RBC) High School wrestling team posted a 54-0 victory over Saint Rose High School on Jan. 10 in Belmar.
The Caseys were sparked by the four pins that they received from Leonard Meer at 138 pounds, Aidan Meyler-McAuliffe at 170, John Columbia at 182 and Jake Louro at 220. The Caseys also received a major decision, 10-1, from 113-pounder Nicholas Mullaney.
There were also five forfeits that went to RBC, while four weight classes were not contested.
The victory improved RBC to 3-6 on the year.
Middletown North
The Middletown High School North boys’ ice hockey team seeks to continue piling up victories when it skates against Howell High School on Jan. 19 at 6:40 p.m. The game will take place at the Howell Ice Arena in Farmingdale.
Coming into their game on Jan. 12 with Brick Township High School, the Lions were riding a three-game winning streak.
During the run, Middletown North scored a 3-2 victory over Manalapan High School on Dec. 23, a 3-1 victory over Rumson-Fair Haven on Dec. 29 and a 7-1 triumph over Freehold Township High School on Jan. 2.
The winning streak improved the Lions to 8-2-1 on the season.
