MARLBORO – Councilwoman Randi Marder will serve as president of the Township Council during 2018. She was elected to the position by her fellow council members when Marlboro’s governing body held its reorganization meeting on Jan. 18 at Town Hall.
As the first order of business, Mayor Jonathan Hornik swore in re-elected council members Jeff Cantor, Scott Metzger and Carol Mazzola with assistance from Deputy Mayor Larry Rosen.
Cantor, Metzger and Mazzola, who were the winners in the Nov. 7 election, are serving terms that will end on Dec. 31, 2021.
Metzger was sworn in by Hornik to serve as council vice president. Cantor, Marder, Mazzola and Metzger are joined on the governing body by Michael Scalea. Democrats have a 5-0 majority on the council.
In other business, Mazzola was appointed to the Planning Board. Stacey DiGrande, Kamalpreet Virdi and Alan Zwerin were appointed to the Zoning Board of Adjustment for four-year terms and Frank Yozzo was appointed as a zoning board alternate for a two-year term.
Municipal officials reappointed Michael Dupont and Raymond Raya as public defenders; Pasquale Menna as municipal prosecutor; Louis Rainone of Rainone Coughlin Minchello as township attorney; CME Associates as township engineer and township planner; the law firm of DeCotiis, FitzPatrick, Cole & Giblin to serve as co-counsel on matters involving affordable housing lawsuits; and the law firm of Goldzweig, Green, Eiger & Biedzynski to serve as special counsel for affordable housing.
The council will meet on Feb. 1, Feb. 15, March 1, March 15, April 12, May 3, May 17, June 14, July 12, Aug. 9, Sept. 6, Oct. 4, Oct. 18, Nov. 1, Nov. 29 and Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 1979 Township Drive, unless stated otherwise.
