Student from Metuchen reflects on Euro Challenge

The Euro Challenge team at Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung was named the winner of the 2017 Euro Challenge competition after surpassing three challenge rounds.

Grace Scheck of Metuchen, a junior at Mount Saint Mary Academy, detailed her empowering experiences as a member of the school’s Euro Challenge team, in an article entitled, “Euro Challenge: Building an Economic Foundation” on the website, Medium.com, which profiles stories regarding the Delegation of the European Union to the United States.

Medium is a social journalism platform that allows writers to report on a plethora of topics.

The Euro Challenge is a program of the Delegation of the European Union in Washington D.C. and organized by Working In Support of Education. The academic competition for freshman and sophomore students encourage American students to learn more about the European Union and its single currently, the Euro.

In the article, Grace explains that she joined the team of 10 members with almost no knowledge in the field of economics, which she later found interesting. She dove into Portugal’s lack of investment and innovation during her freshman year and in her sophomore year, the team shifted research on Germany’s aging workforce and demographics.

When she graduates from Mount Saint Mary Academy next year, Grace will take many valuable lessons from her Euro Challenge experience with her which will help shape her career path. In college, Grace would like to continue studying economics.
