Youngsters enjoy winter family carnival

The CentraState Healthcare Foundation’s third annual Junior Humanitarian Winter Family
Carnival was held on Jan. 13 in Freehold Township. More than 100 children and their parents enjoyed games, activities, prizes, food and carnival fun, according to a press release.

The Junior Humanitarian contest is run each year to provide leadership and community service opportunities to students between the ages of 15 and 21 from the communities surrounding CentraState.

The contestants host individual fundraisers and joint events such as the Winter Family Carnival. Scholarship winners are chosen at the end of each contest, based on their fundraising results and additional points for engaging other volunteers.

All proceeds from the Junior Humanitarian program benefit the Pediatric Department at CentraState Medical Center, according to the press release.

Foundation officials thanked Joseph Rucci from Party Zone Entertainments and Rentals for donating his DJ services, John Slazyk and Steve Gattoni for donating the prizes, the 33 volunteers who participated, Marti Enterprizes and students from the Colts Neck High School ROTC program for volunteering their time to make the event a success.
