East Brunswick Library unveils EB Create makerspace prior to New Jersey Makers Day

EAST BRUNSWICK – The East Brunswick Library has opened its new EB Create makerspace to encourage hands-on projects.

The EB Create features a variety of art, crafting and technology equipment that library customers can use. The room also has several computers stations dedicated to graphic design and video editing, as well as a recording studio space, according to information provided by the library.

The library is also launching a series of lendable kits, allowing customers to borrow items from the makerspace.

The EB Create will have open hours for the community to use the space and equipment to work on projects at the library.

In addition, the library will celebrate New Jersey Makers Day, showing the community the importance of exploring new opportunities for education, entrepreneurship and hands-on learning. Activities focus on STEM and STEAM-based (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) learning.

Although New Jersey Makers Day is celebrated statewide on March 9 and 10, East Brunswick will hold several programs for adults throughout the week. Programs include an introduction to arm knitting at 2:30 p.m. on March 5, making felted wool dryer balls at 7 p.m. on March 6, “cord cutting” options for television at 2:30 p.m. on March 7, and making movie trailers on an iPad at 7:30 p.m. on March 8.

The library is located at 2 Jean Wallling Civic Center Dr., off of Ryders Lane, East Brunswick.
