North Brunswick invites families to join Special Education PTO

NORTH BRUNSWICK – The North Brunswick Special Education Parent Teacher Organization was established in 2011 to build strong relationships amongst teachers, parents, administration, existing PTOs and the community so that all classified students from preschool through high school will be better understood, integrated and embraced by the schools and the community.

Its goal is to promote the social, emotional and academic welfare of the special education student by supporting and providing families with the tools and information they need to work collaboratively and to be more effective advocates for their children, according to Daniela Guido.

The organization held a gym night at Judd Elementary School on Feb. 23 and a presentation on special needs estate planning and trusts on March 6.

Carol Womack from the Middlesex County Special Child Health Services Department will provide information on various services and resources available to the special needs population at 7 p.m. on April 10.

A Special Needs Resource Fair will be held at 5:30 p.m. on May 1 with service providers and community partners providing information to special needs families.

Both events are free and will be held at Judd, 1601 Roosevelt Avenue, North Brunswick.
