The Hazlet Township Committee adopted an ordinance funding various swimming pool improvements and small equipment for the Hazlet Swim and Tennis Club.
Township Administrator Dennis Pino said the township is looking into to purchasing some robots to help filter and vacuum the pool; however, the township is not sure which kind or how many it needs.
According to the township officials, there are also is a lot of electrical improvements the club needs, and for the past few years, the township has put aside money into doing the club’s entire electrical system over.
The Hazlet Swim and Tennis Club, located at 1766 Union Ave., has an outdoor swimming pool, according to Pino.
“We also got a lot of the lights in the parking lot [where] the wires can become frayed and tends to be unsafe, so are really going to attack that issue,” Pino said.
Pino said the money also will fund various landscape improvements at the club.
The amount of $83,000 will be appropriated for the purposes of funding the various improvements and is funded from the Swim Pool Capital Improvement Fund, according to the committee agenda.
The council approved and adopted the ordinance on March 6 during its semi-monthly meeting at the municipal building.
The improvements will begin as soon as the weather breaks and when the township knows which direction it wants to go in terms of upgrades and equipment, according to Pino.
Pino said the township has the Department of Public Works, which provides a lot of improvements to the swim club. The township also does a lot of landscape work itself, but to handle the electrical work, the township will have to bring in licensed electrical contractors.
