The community is invited to visit the Disability Allies Young Adult Community Inclusion Center, located in the Village Green Shopping Center, 415 Route 18 south, East Brunswick, on April 28 for a ribbon cutting ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon and then an open house from noon to 4 p.m.
The inclusion center is a place to connect people with and without special needs. The center provides a variety of fun and educational activities for young adults and their mentors to participate in. Structured activities for people with special needs include art, music, theater, cooking, health, technology, etc.. Special events such as dances, cookoffs, barbeques, talent shows and karaoke nights are also available throughout the year.
Other services include job, volunteer and social coaching. Participants will have the opportunity to experience integration into the community by learning life skills. Assistance with community college preparation will also be available.
The community center will provide a location for young adults to socialize with typical and non-typical peers. They will enjoy activities such as ping pong, air hockey, foosball and video games.
