Through a joint effort with the Middlesex County Food Bank (MCFOODS) and Feeding Middlesex County, the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign will be hosting the first Middlesex County Walk for Better Health and health fair event between 9 a.m. to noon on April 21 at the American Legion Pavilion, 4 J F Kennedy Drive, Milltown.
Jason Haykin, a certified personal trainer and health coach, will lead the two-thirds walk to get participants pumped up with energy for the walk. Nurses from Saint Peter’s University Hospital will provide blood pressure and blood sugar screenings at the health fair.
The Milltown Chamber of Commerce will have some local businesses who will be collecting food at various locations throughout Milltown including Dr. Paula Sjolund, Kearny Bank, Milltown Ice Cream Depot, Provident Bank and Wine & Design.
All proceeds from the walk will benefit MCFOODS. All vendors must bring their own table, chair and tent. For vendors, the cost is a monetary donation or food donation.
In addition, each participant will be given one ticket for a chance to win a door prize. The prizes are donations from local businesses, local committees, and non-profit organizations. Participants must be present to win.
