Music fans will have an opportunity to enjoy an array of concerts at the Old Bridge Library in April.
The library’s Second Saturday Concert Series will feature the Carnaby Street Band performing a tribute to the Beatles at 2:30 p.m. on April 14. The trio features Chris Roselle on guitar/vocals, Pete Bremy on bass/vocals)and Dino DiMartino on drums/vocals.
The first concert in a classical music series “Old Bridge Collegium Musicum Presents” will offer a selection of Russian Romantic music by Tchaikovsky, Glazunov and more at 2 p.m. on April 22. It will feature Old Bridge resident Alexei Yavtuhovich, who was born in Belarus and was a member of the Belarus State Concert Orchestra and Belarus String Quartet. Joining Yavtuhovich will be Dr. Eugenia Goldman on violin, Joel Rudin on viola and Dr. Tomasz Rzeczycki on cello. The group plans three other classical concerts at the library later this year.
The Festive Flutes, a semi-professional flute choir that plays light classical music and show tunes throughout New Jersey, will perform at 2 p.m. on April 28. Their “Enchantment” program will feature Tchaikovsky ballet music, Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade,” George Gershwin favorites, and themes from movies. Also featured will be a new piece by Trenton composer Ricky Lombardo entitled “Enchantment Trios.” Leading the group will be Festive Flutes founder and director Marjorie Koharski, a retired flutist with the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra, an active flutist with The Elysion Winds Quintet and a former faculty member of The Monmouth Conservatory of Music.
Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable donation to the Old Bridge Food Pantry to these free events.
The library is located at 1 Old Bridge Plaza at the corner of Route 516 and Cottrell Road in the Municipal Center.
