MILLSTONE – The Township Committee will continue a shared services/mutual aid agreement with neighboring Jackson for conflict of interest and emergency coverage regarding construction code enforcement services.
On April 4, committee members passed a resolution authorizing the continuation of a shared services/mutual aid agreement between Millstone and Jackson. The agreement will be effective for the entire year.
According to the resolution, Millstone previously entered into a shared services/mutual aid agreement with Jackson for conflict of interest and emergency coverage regarding construction code enforcement services. The previous agreement expired on Dec. 31. The agreement was made because Jackson has the personnel to meet Millstone’s need for those services.
In other business, committee members awarded a contract with a base bid of $25,995 and an $85 per ton disposal fee to Central Jersey Waste and Recycling for the township’s 2018 curbside spring cleanup program.
The award of the contract is contingent upon the adoption of Millstone’s 2018 municipal budget, which committee members introduced that evening. A public hearing on the budget has been scheduled for May 2, at which time the budget may be adopted.
And, the committee introduced an ordinance amending the township’s salary ordinance by changing the maximum salaries of the construction code official and the building inspector. The ordinance, if adopted, will increase the construction code official’s maximum salary from $15,000 to $30,000 and decrease the building inspector’s maximum salary from $83,000 to $40,000.
The minimum salary for each position is $1,000, according to the ordinance, which is unchanged by the proposed amendment. A public hearing on the ordinance is scheduled for April 18. The committee may adopt the ordinance that evening.
