SOUTH BRUNSWICK – An officer who served with the South Brunswick Police Department for 33 years has passed away.
Dorsey Lee Trent, formerly of South Brunswick, passed away on May 5 at his home in Monroe. He was 78.
Born in Farmers, Kentucky, he moved to the Dayton section of South Brunswick 75 years ago. He moved to the Rossmoor section of Monroe two years ago, according to information from The Crabiel Home for Funerals.
Dorsey retired as sergeant in 1994. He was a member of the N.J. Auto Theft Bureau, past president of the South Brunswick PBA and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was on the police and the National Guard Pistol Teams, according to his obituary.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-64. He was past Middlesex County commander of the American Legion, member of American Legion Post 25 in Milltown and a former member of the American Legion Post 401 in the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, according to his obituary.
Dorsey was also a parishioner of the Presbyterian Church in Jamesburg, and a member of the Milltown Lions Club.
A funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. May 9 at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N. Main St. at Riva Avenue, Milltown. Burial will follow. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. May 8 at the funeral home.
