South River Balalaika Orchestra to perform May 20

The South River Balalaika Orchestra, a home-grown string ensemble from Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, will hold a Spring Imaginings concert at 2 p.m. on May 20 in the South River High School auditorium, 11 Montgomery St., South River.

The program runs approximately 90 minutes with one intermission.

Philadelphia’s premier maestro, Dimitri Kauriga, conducts arrangements of traditional Russian folk songs as well as classical compositions by Tchaikovsky and Chopin. The instrumental variety include the Alto and Contra Bass, Middle Secunda Alto, Prima Balalaika and the high register Domra, accompanied by the accordion and tambourine.

 

The cost is $20 for adults or $5 children 12 and under. Limited ticket availability at the door.
