METUCHEN — Mayor Jonathan M. Busch will run for the unexpired one-year term for mayor in November.
Busch, a Democrat, posted a photo on social media of the nominating petition declaring he will be run for the unexpired one-year term for the primary election on June 5.
“Since being appointed by the Borough Council in December, it has been a great honor to serve Metuchen and I hope to have the opportunity to continue,” he said in the post.
The Borough Council appointed Busch as mayor on Dec. 18, 2017.
Former Mayor Peter Cammarano resigned on Dec. 4 after Gov. Phil Murphy tapped him as his chief of staff.
Busch will be joined by Councilwoman Allison Inserro and newcomer Jason Delia, who filed for the two available three-year term seats on the council.
Council President Ronald Grayzel did not file for a seat. His term ends Dec. 31.
No Republicans filed for the primary election, according to Metuchen Borough Clerk Susan Jackson.
