MANALAPAN – Grants received from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) will help pay for two significant road projects in Manalapan this year.
During the May 9 meeting of the Township Committee, members of the governing body voted 5-0 to adopt an ordinance appropriating $3.57 million for capital improvements and equipment in 2018.
Manalapan is expected to issue $2.59 million in bonds or notes and to reappropriate $313,100 from previous bond proceeds that were not needed for their intended purposes in order to undertake this year’s roster of capital improvements, Township Administrator Tara Lovrich said.
Two primary projects expected to occur are the resurfacing of Taylors Mills Road and the resurfacing of Gordons Corner Road. The township expects to receive $535,000 in grants from the DOT.
