MILLSTONE – Municipal officials, residents and veterans of the United States armed forces will gather on Stagecoach Road on the morning of May 28 to honor those who died in military service to the nation as Millstone Township holds its annual commemoration of Memorial Day.
The events will begin at 7:30 a.m. behind the municipal building, 470 Stagecoach Road, where volunteers led by resident Holly Braverman will decorate the Millstone community float.
The parade will begin between 9 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. at the post office, 424 Stagecoach Road. Bleacher seating will be provided at the Millstone Township Community Center, 463 Stagecoach Road, along with a viewing stand, according to township officials.
Featured during the parade will be the Allentown High School band, bagpipers, the community float with a DJ, and representatives of veterans organizations who will march. Artwork from students will be displayed.
Following the parade, a memorial service will be held at the veterans memorial at the municipal building. Bleacher seating will be provided during the memorial service and food and drinks will be provided after the service. There will be free face painting after the service for students who attend the parade.
The Memorial Day parade is sponsored by the Millstone Veterans Memorial Council, which is chaired by Vietnam veteran Ray Dothard.
