CEO of Metuchen Savings Bank receives award for 55 years of banking service

Katherine J. Liseno, president/CEO of Metuchen Savings Bank, was honored for 55 years of service to the banking industry during the New Jersey Bankers Annual Conference in Marco Island, Florida, on May 18.

Liseno has been president and CEO since 1979, beginning her career with the bank in 1962. She has served since 2014 on the Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council (CDIAC) of the NY Federal Reserve Bank.

She served on numerous committees of NJBankers predecessor organizations, including the New Jersey Savings League and later New Jersey’s Community & Savings Bankers Association where she served as chairman of the Board of Governors from 2001-02. She also served on the Executive Committee; the Committee on Examination & Supervision; the BCG, Inc. Board of Directors; TICIC, Inc. Board of Directors; Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee; State Legislative Committee; Nominating Committee; Public Relations & Marketing Committee; the County League Committee; and as President of the Central Jersey Savings League.

Additionally, Liseno served a term as president of Garden State Chapter #67 of the Institute of Financial Education in 1978; served on the board from 1969-79; was an instructor from 1973-77; and studied there from 1963-69.

She served on the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York from 2002-13 where she was the chair of the Affordable Housing Committee.

She was the recipient of the 2012 NJBankers Forrey-Gallman Award in recognition of her long-term outstanding service to the New Jersey banking industry.

An avid community volunteer, Liseno was active for many years in the Rotary Club of Metuchen and was recognized with a Triple Sapphire Paul Harris Award in 2013 for her contributions to the humanitarian and educational programs of The Rotary Foundation.

She is the first woman inducted to the Rotary Club of Metuchen, is a past president and served for many years as a member of the Board of Directors. She was the president of the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce in 1980, a board member from 1969-79 and treasurer of the Metuchen Country Fair Committee from 1968 to 2011.

 

Metuchen Savings Bank was founded in 1897 and maintains a branch at 442 Main St. in Metuchen, in addition to a mortgage division at 50 Pearl St. in Metuchen. The bank is an equal housing lender and member FDIC.
