FREEHOLD – Comedy will be on the menu at the Center Playhouse, 35 South St., Freehold, on June 9.
Center Players Dessert Theater will welcome New Jersey comedy icon Uncle Floyd Vivino for shows at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Opening the show will be humorist Randi Lupo of Manalapan.
Uncle Floyd is best known for his 1974-98 television show “The Uncle Floyd Show.” David Bowie, who was a fan of the show, wrote the song “Slip Away” as a tribute to “The Uncle Floyd Show.”
Uncle Floyd has appeared in television shows and movies throughout his long career. He appears regularly at events throughout the tri-state area, according to a press release.
The family friendly show on June 9 will feature Uncle Floyd singing classic songs from his
unique songbook and entertaining the crowd with his musings. Opening the show will be Lupo, who performs at comedy clubs in New York and New Jersey, and performs a one-woman show, “Sometimes I’m OK.”

Center Players will round out its 2017-18 season with a production of “Dinner with Friends,” written by Donald Marguiles and directed by Leslie Hochman, running from July 27 through Aug. 26.
