MILLSTONE – New appointments have been made to municipal positions in Millstone Township. On June 6, the Township Committee passed resolutions appointing the following individuals to offices in the township:
• Melissa Peerboom was appointed secretary to the Open Space and Farmland Preservation Council and Agricultural Advisory Council. She will receive an annual salary of $47,472.
• Lorraine Maher was appointed deputy tax collector. She will receive an annual salary of $45,945.
• Arlene Yarbrough was appointed technical assistant to the construction official. She will receive an annual (prorated for this year) salary of $41,616.
• Diana Santiago was appointed part-time municipal court administrator. She will receive an annual salary of $39,000. Because the position is part-time, Santiago will work the necessary and prerequisite court sessions 25 hours a week with no health benefits, commensurate sick, vacation and personal days, and she will not receive overtime.
• Elizabeth Kiernan was appointed to a four-year term as tax collector. She will receive an annual salary of $12,000 and her four-year term will run from Jan. 1, 2019, through Dec. 31, 2022.
• Phyllis Iozzi was appointed full-time violations clerk. She will receive an hourly rate of $15 and her term as full-time violations clerk will expire on Dec. 31.
• Matthew Blazier was appointed as a seasonal Clean Communities employee. He will receive an hourly rate of $12 and work a maximum of 40 hours a week.
Mayor Gary Dorfman and Committeeman Fiore Masci thanked Township Administrator Maria Dellasala for her work in the hiring of Santiago and Iozzi to the municipal court.
“Maria, I want commend you for all the work you did,” Masci said. “You had to jump through a lot of hoops and meet with different county officials to get this to happen. [It’s] very consistent with what this governing body always seeks to do. We create efficiencies within our court system and we are saving the taxpayers [and] residents money.”
“We’ll meet the needs of the public, we’ll meet our obligations to our partners, and we are doing well for the taxpayers on a cost financial basis,” Dorfman said.
And, the committee adopted an ordinance amending the township’s salary ordinance for the year. The ordinance, which establishes the salary range for each municipal employee, was amended to include the positions of deputy tax collector (minimum salary of $1,000 and maximum salary of $50,000) and technical assistant to the construction official (minimum salary of $1,000 and maximum salary of $42,000); to increase the maximum salary of the open space/farmland secretary from $46,000 to $50,000; and to increase the maximum salary of summer recreation counselors to $18.
