Sayreville announces sewer rate costs for next three years

SAYREVILLE – The Sayreville Borough Council has adopted an ordinance that will increase sewer charges in the borough through 2021.

The sewer rate periods go from July 1 to June 30, 2019; July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2020; and from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021.

  • Class A users, residential and apartment, discharging normal domestic sewage will be charged $27.50 per thousand cubic feet of water consumed, then $30 and then $32.70, according to the ordinance.
  • Class B users discharging non-domestic industrial wastes will be charged $2.55 per thousand gallons, based upon the actual flow of each user, then $2.80, then $3.05, according to the ordinance. These rates do not include charges from the Middlesex County Utilities Authority.
  • Class C users, food preparation and processing, who discharge sewage in excess of domestic normal sewage, including restaurants without a grease trap, bakeries, convenience stores with food, supermarkets and bars without a grease trap, will be charged $72.45 per thousand cubic feet of actual sewage flow, then $79, then $86.15, according to the ordinance.
  • Class D Users, hotels and motels, who discharge sewage in excess of domestic normal sewage, will be charged $60.45 per thousand cubic feet of actual sewage flow, then $65.90, then $71.85, according to the ordinance.
  • Class E users, cleaning services, who discharge sewage in excess of domestic normal sewage, will be charged $80.91 per thousand cubic feet of actual sewage flow, then $89.30, then $97.35, according to the ordinance.
  • Class F users, car service, who discharge sewage in excess of domestic normal sewage, including body shops, auto repair shops and gas/service stations, will be charged $117.80 per thousand cubic feet of actual sewage flow, then $128.40, then $140, according to the ordinance.
  • Class G users, light commercial, who discharge sewage in excess of domestic normal sewage, including offices, retail stores, theaters, warehouses, car sales, beauty salons, barber shops, laboratories, funeral parlors, car washing facilities and bars and restaurants that contain an approved grease trap with a regular maintenance schedule, will be charged $42.20 per thousand cubic feet of actual sewage flow, then $46, then $50.15, according to the ordinance.
  • Class H Users, laundromats, who discharge sewage in excess of domestic normal sewage, will be charged $30.40 per thousand cubic feet of actual sewage flow, then $33.15, then $36.15, according to the ordinance.

The minimal annual charge to any property connected to the borough sanitary system will be $140 from July 1 through June 30, 2019; $152 from July 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020; and $166 from July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2021, according to the ordinance.
