Jackson council establishes no parking zone

JACKSON- An ordinance establishing a “no parking” zone in a Jackson park has been adopted by the Township Council.

The ordinance states there will be no parking permitted on both sides of the interior driveway of Johnson Park for the entire length of the driveway.

Council President Ken Bressi, Vice President Robert Nixon, Councilman Barry Calogero, Councilwoman Ann Updegrave and Councilman Scott Martin voted to adopt the ordinance at the June 12 meeting.

In other business, the council reappointed Daniel R. Sahin as municipal court judge for a three-year term. Sahin’s current term as Jackson’s municipal court judge will end June 30. His new term will run from July 1 through June 30, 2021.

And, the council awarded a $38,800 contract to Nickolaus Construction Company, Southampton, for basketball court and hockey rink resurfacing. The company will resurface the basketball courts at Johnson Park and the hockey rink at the Jackson Justice Complex.

Finally, council members authorized the advertisement for and acceptance of sealed bids for projects to improve New Central Avenue and Woodlane Road. The work will be partially funded with New Jersey Department of Transportation local aid grants, according to the resolutions.
