Freehold Borough school board approves system purchases

FREEHOLD – The Freehold Borough K-8 School District Board of Education has approved a subscription to i-Ready Diagnostic and Instruction for grades K-8.

According to district administrators, i-Ready Diagnostic is a supplemental online resource intended to enhance the student learning experience through adaptive assessment and personalized learning paths aligned to mastering the New Jersey Student Learning Standards in English language arts and math. The annual subscription cost will not exceed $42,400.

During a recent meeting, board members also approved the renewal and support services of LinkIt! at a cost of $34,965. District administrators said LinkIt! provides benchmark assessments and house district assessment data for analyses and program planning.

And, the board authorized Business Administrator Joseph Howe to enter into a contract with Frontline Education to provide applicant tracking and recruiting software.

According to district administrators, Frontline Education will streamline the district’s current hiring process and assist the district in complying with a new state law that requires up to a 20-year background check on prospective employees who previously worked in childcare settings.

The software has a one-time set-up fee of $3,600 and a recurring annual cost of $7,940, effective immediately, according to district administrators.

And, board members approved the renewal of the Marzano Focused Teacher Evaluation Model for the 2018-19 school year at a cost of $2,550, which will be provided through Learning Science International and used in the observation and evaluation of certified staff members, teachers and administrators, according to district administrators.

Finally, the board approved a continued partnership with MindAligned through Count Basie Education and Outreach. The partnership provides ongoing professional development opportunities for staff to increase student engagement and motivation through instructional strategies rooted in the arts discipline and opportunities for students to experience theater arts residency programs and residency shows, according to district administrators.
