Sayreville approves funds for vehicles, equipment

SAYREVILLE – The Sayreville Borough Council has approved the purchase of more than $1 million for vehicles and equipment.

At a recent meeting, the council adopted a bond ordinance appropriating $1.32 million for the acquisition of vehicles and equipment and authorizing the issuance of $1.254 million in bonds or notes to help finance the costs of the vehicles and equipment. A down payment of $66,000 will cover the remaining costs.

According to the ordinance, the $1.32 million will be used to acquire police and fire SUV vehicles, police equipment, fire apparatus, public safety pagers, public works and sewer vehicles, snow removal equipment, a dump truck, a rear loader sanitation truck, automated refuse containers and public works equipment.

In other business, the council adopted an ordinance appropriating $285,500 for the acquisition of vehicles and equipment in the borough’s water department. The vehicles and equipment that will be purchased by the $285,500 for the borough’s water utility, according to the ordinance, will be a mason dump truck, a pick-up truck, portable radio devices, a billing system, a bin block and a utility machine.

The council also adopted an ordinance prohibiting parking at all times on the north side of Wisniewski Road from the intersection of Sayreville Boulevard and Wisniewski Road to a point 159 feet north of the prolongation of the eastern curb line of Clark Street.

Additionally, the council adopted an ordinance installing traffic signals at the intersection of Washington Road and Pulaski Avenue.

In other business, the council passed a resolution extending a contract with PVS Chemical for Ferric Chloride for an additional one-year term not to exceed $337,750.

The council also passed a resolution authorizing a contract for document scanning to Accu Scanning of Edgewater in an amount not to exceed $31,531.

Additionally, the council passed a resolution authorizing the renewal of a CAD software maintenance agreement with Queues Enforth Development of Stoneham, Massachusetts, in an amount not to exceed $25,776.

Finally, the council passed a resolution authorizing the execution of a utility agreement with Middlesex County for water line replacement associated with a project to improve Scott Avenue.
