New Milltown cat adoption center to hold grand opening celebration

MILLTOWN – Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society will host a grand opening event on July 29 at its new cat adoption center in Milltown.

The Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society Adoption Center, located at 39 S. Main St., is the rescue organization’s first standalone facility. To celebrate the new space, the grand opening will be held from noon to 6 p.m., and will feature facility tours, meet and greets with adoptable cats, handmade merchandise, kid-friendly games and more.

The event is free of charge.

The 825-square-foot adoption center is focused on helping rescue even more cats from municipal shelters. With the ability to accommodate up to 25 cats at a time – each getting their own spacious, multiple-level “kitty apartment” – the tranquil center encourages shy and older cats to thrive and find forever homes.

Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society estimates the new center will help it save double the cats. To facilitate saving even more lives, many new volunteer positions are available, including cleaning, socializing and adoption counseling opportunities. The organization also plans to hold public training sessions.
