EAST BRUNSWICK – The Township Council has introduced an ordinance which would, if adopted, amend the municipal code and prohibit drivers from parking and waiting on certain streets near East Brunswick High School, Cranbury Road.
If the ordinance is adopted, drivers will not be allowed to park or wait in their vehicles on Ellwood Road, Highview Road, Lois Avenue and Merrill Avenue. Those streets are near the high school, Township Administrator Joseph Criscuolo said.
Council members introduced the ordinance on July 9. A public hearing will be held at the council’s July 23 meeting and council members may vote to adopt the ordinance that evening.
For the entire length and on both sides of Ellwood and Highview roads, drivers will not be allowed to park or to wait in their vehicles from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on school days, according to ordinance.
On both sides of Lois from Merrill avenues to Channing Road, drivers will not be allowed to park or to wait in their vehicles from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on school days.
On both sides of Merrill Avenue, drivers will not be allowed to park or to wait in their vehicles 900 feet north from Cranbury Road from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on school days, according to the ordinance.
Criscuolo said the new parking regulations were requested by residents on those streets.
“The East Brunswick Police Department’s Community Policing Division has been working with residents in the area,” Criscuolo said.
