Police warn of vehicle burglaries throughout South River

SOUTH RIVER – The South River Police Department has been investigating several recently reported motor vehicle burglaries.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect(s) are gaining entry into unlocked vehicles during the overnight hours or early morning hours, according to information provided by the South River Police Department. Items taken during the burglaries have included loose change and small electronics.

The burglaries have occurred throughout the borough and do not seem to be confined to any specific area, police said.

This South River Police Department is reminding residents to lock all vehicle doors and close all vehicle windows to reduce the risk of becoming a victim. In addition, all valuables, money and electronics should be secured out of view.

Residents should report any burglaries or suspicious activity to police by calling 732-238-1000. Emergencies or crimes in progress should be reported by dialing 9-1-1.
