A Hopewell Borough home was left uninhabitable after a fire broke out at the house on West Prospect Street shortly after 9 a.m. July 20, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.
A police officer who arrived within minutes of a call for assistance saw flames. The Hopewell Fire Department arrived and firefighters began to battle the blaze, eventually bringing it under control.
The Hopewell Fire Department was joined by firefighters from the Pennington Fire Co., the Union Fire Co., the Lawrenceville Fire Co., Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2 and the Princeton Fire Department.
Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, the Hopewell Emergency Medical Unit and the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad also responded.
The fire, which was deemed to be accidental, began on the outside of the house, police said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department and Hopewell Valley Emergency Services.
