FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – No recommendations for corrective action were made in the 2017 municipal audit of Freehold Township.
At a Township Committee meeting on July 24, committee members passed a resolution adopting the 2017 audit. Under state law, the governing body of every municipality must have an annual audit of its books, accounts and financial transactions.
According to the resolution, the audit contains no recommendations and because no recommendations were made, officials were not required to prepare a corrective action plan.
By passing the resolution, the committee certified to the state’s Local Finance Board that all members of the governing body reviewed, at a minimum, the sections of the annual audit entitled General Comments and Recommendations.
In other business, the committee authorized a one-year contract with G&S Roofing & Siding Inc. in the amount of $23,380 for roofing, gutters, siding and skylight replacement at the Jackson Mills Road water treatment plant, Point Ivy, Southern Gulf and several other pump stations.
Committee members also passed a resolution renewing a shared services agreement with the Freehold Regional High School District for licensed water treatment plant operations for Colts Neck High School, which is part of the high school district.
And, the committee authorized an additional $11,835 in a contract awarded to Starlight Electric, LLC, for as-needed electrical service work in the township. According to the resolution, the additional funds were authorized because the township is in need of lighting and electrical services for the Michael J. Tighe Park Pavilion and Four Square Court.
Finally, committee members rejected a $145,550 bid from Municipal Maintenance Company, Cinnaminson, for the Eltons Corner pump station wet well rehabilitation. The bid was rejected on the recommendation of Superintendent of Utilities Robert Koches and consulting engineer Mott MacDonald because the bid exceeded budget estimates, according to the resolution.
